Following an election outcome that left him short of a clear governing majority, Netanyahu faced several political options for remaining in power. According to Israeli activist and writer Miko Peled, Netanyahu's overriding priority has always been political survival. Peled suggested that efforts to persuade lawmakers from rival parties to switch sides would likely be among Netanyahu's first strategies.
He also pointed to the possibility of a national unity government, which could weaken opposition cohesion while strengthening Netanyahu's position. Peled further argued that mainstream Zionist parties share political positions that make cooperation with Palestinian-led parties unlikely, narrowing coalition possibilities. If a full parliamentary majority could not be secured, he noted that a minority government remained another potential route for Netanyahu to continue governing.
