You're right Dawn. Demeaning comments and "jokes" about people with weight problems doesn't demean the fat person, but exposes the crude cruelty and shallowness of those who try for a cheap laugh. Yes, it's also true that cheap processed foods target the poorest who, as a result, suffer the worst from weight problems. I recently lost a young friend who suffered from obesity because of the medications she was required to take. But you'll never instill understanding or compassion in some people who just don't have the emotional capacity to see beyond callous stereotypes. Don't waste your time even trying.
