It is irritating to see these ancient civilizations be labeled all together by this colonial term

Imagine calling the Italian, French and German civilization - middle west. It's a very simple label, playing down its value. You made a good point.

thank you for helping me understand that. Yes it makes sense

I appreciate the clarity of your message. I thought of the Middle East as a much smaller area than you described. Plus, I did not know the origin of that term. I am now thinking of restructuring the way I think into calling it Asia or middle Asia —

Thank you so much for that clear explanation, eye opening for me and for pointing out the emotional baggage that goes with it. It is sooo important for this to be exposed. I am a colonial and like with racism the attitudes of superiority are the air we breathe, not questioned. It is not easy to change those deeply held, brainwashed beliefs. It shows with zionist beliefs in Palatine.

I am third generation South African now Australian (two colonial narratives under my belt). I became aware when I was 5yrs old that those attitudes were wrong. I have been fighting them outside in the apartheid fight and within myself and still at 79 find them sneakily lurking. I'm sorry. Please keep calling it out.
