UN’s Albanese Condemns “Global System of Complicity” in Gaza Genocide

Via Dropsite:

UN Special Rapporteur Francesca Albanese addressed the UN General Assembly this week. She began by marking day 751 of the Gaza genocide, speaking from South Africa after U.S. sanctions barred her entry to New York. She said Gaza today is “strangled, starved, shattered,” with hundreds of thousands killed or missing and bodies returned showing signs of torture.

Albanese said Israel’s atrocities are not accidental but the result of a global system of complicity — a “colonial world order” that armed, funded, and shielded Israel as its apartheid turned genocidal.

She cited four pillars of that complicity:

1️⃣ Diplomacy: forums used to justify genocide and veto ceasefires, while states like South Africa and Nicaragua are punished for pursuing justice.

2️⃣ Military ties: the U.S. supplies two-thirds of Israel’s weapons, with many others exporting or testing arms on Palestinians.

3️⃣ Trade: Israel’s exports soared to $474 billion; the EU remains its main partner even as it sanctions Russia.

4️⃣ Weaponized aid: the blockade and the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation turned aid sites into “killing fields.”

She urged all states to suspend military, economic, and diplomatic ties, cut arms trade, and prosecute those complicit, including foreign fighters in the IDF. “No state may aid or assist a genocidal regime,” she said. “If the Security Council is paralyzed, this Assembly must act. From the ruins of Gaza may a new multilateralism rise — not for the few, but for the many.”
