A state funeral for a revered national leader, both a religious and a political figure, who steadfastly refused to authorize the government of his country to build a nuclear weapon, this despite repeated deceitful and deadly attacks on his government and his country by its enemies. His funeral has become perhaps the largest, the best attended funeral in the history of our sin-darkened world. Why? Because people everywhere recognize what we call “the moral high ground” when they see it occupied by a leader whose principles speak volumes and whose personal example inspires devotion to spiritual values we recognize as selfless, courageous and wholesome.

War is not the answer to our problems. We must learn to focus on our common goals and on universal values.

We probably never understood a lot of the deep Middle East and that’s why we should not be there, at all, and least of all, having demagogues and corrupt officials commanding opinions and actions serving their interests.

Send Trump there. Let the crowds deal with him.

If everyone started saying that the reason that those crowds were really there was because they wanted to see Trump, he just may be dumb enough for his narcissism to coax him into believing it. Hell... it's worth a shot! 😆 Maybe we can trick him into going there thinking he'll recieve a warm embrace, and then the crowd will rip his limbs off with their bare hands! Now that's a sight I'd pay to see! 👀

Richard Williams's avatar

Yes of course, I'd like to see him ripped limb from limb too, but it's better that the world sees the Iranian people in their true light, all the more to show as an outright lie the US government and media narrative justifying their unprovoked war of aggression.

Israel and the United States killed the Supreme Leader, his family and thousands of others while pretending to engage in negotiations for a peace settlement. What abhorrent, deceitful and shameful behavior, utterly cowardly and reprehensible. Trump and Netanyahu are deservedly condemned now and will be eternally reviled for their dastardly actions. Absolutely disgusting criminal monsters!

Thank you for sharing. That is quite a culture to behold. Let us hope peace prevails

I noticed that the days' long mourning was begun on the 4th of July. Just a coincidence, one may suppose! I saw a picture of a giant, illumined fist of defiant triumph raised over Tehran!

The war's far from over.

Michael Gillespie's avatar

Perhaps, but that those who profit from war financially and politically will likely attempt to continue making war does not alter the fact that war is now obsolete.

War no longer produces great leaders. It has become much too destructive and much too costly, risky and dangerous. It is increasingly likely to destroy human civilization. Forward thinking leaders recognize the dangers that war with increasingly sophisticated and destructive WMD represents. Moreover, the masses recognize the dangers attendant upon WMD wars, thus we see the increasingly widespread popular rejection of war as viable economic and political policy. Thus we see a martyred leader who steadfastly refused to authorize his government to develop nuclear weapons honored as no other leader before him. Thus we see coming to the fore responsible leaders who are reluctant to go to war and who are devoted to good faith diplomatic efforts to avoid further escalation and the risks associated with WMD.

God gives us freedom of choice. We can choose, wisely, to be creative and tolerant of our neighbors. We can think of our children, our grandchildren and their children. We can learn to work together toward our common goals. Or we can choose to be savage and warlike in an era when war is no longer a viable option if our civilization is to continue to avoid catastrophic interruption.

Ali Khamenei becomes something almost elemental — a figure of stern grace, whose presence stitched together a nation’s fractured edges. His honour wasn’t theatrical but lived in the quiet discipline millions felt beneath his leadership. Western narratives often flattened him into a villain, unable or unwilling to see the depth of devotion he commanded. The vast, surging mourning that followed revealed a truth beyond propaganda: a leader whose influence flowed through the people themselves.

America and Israel killed the supreme religious leader in Iran. There are approximately 200 million to 260 million Shia Muslims worldwide, making up about 10% to 15% of the total global Muslim population. Many of them admired and followed Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

Not exactly like killing the Catholic Pope but similar. America and Isreali are now enemies of all those people, and rightly so.

Hey ! hey ! sorry to interfere into the sum of reverence towards Ayathollah Khamenei. Let’s not forget that he was ruling the country during the “women life freedom” revolution and he did order his brutal morality police to beat, imprison and even kill them. The Nobel price of peace Nargess Mohamadi has spent the past 25 years going in and out of jail and she recently got seriously ill in prison. All the people who have expressed their opposition towards Khamenei and his devoted valets are in jail right now while this funeral which has obviously been put up for political strategic reasons is going on. It is a fact that there are 3 million Iranians who are the base of this religious authoritarian state. But what about the other 87 million who are not only staying away from these hysterical demonstrations but include a large number of highly educated who are not religious and stay against this clerical authority even if they have been united against the Israel American attacks to dismantle the country.

Thank you Patrick for your remarks. It is true to say that women are abused, raped, emprisoned or killed in other countries but it is not a justification and can not be normalized. In Iran women do not have the same rights than men. They are submitted under the law of Islam Shiite. I will let you check it by yourself. This has nothing to do with Zionist propaganda which is another political religious ideology which has showed its real barbaric face in Gaza. I am anticlerical and against religions in general because I consider them to be alienation tools built to deprive human beings from freedom. As for Khamenei’s funeral you are wrong in Islam you have to bury the dead in 48 hours after death. So this is a setup for the Iranian regime to show its sovereignty and impress Trump and it worked!

"Mate. You run a country with 600,000 homeless people sleeping on the street tonight. A country where 40% of adults can't cover a $400 emergency without borrowing money. A country where insulin costs more than a car payment and people are rationing it to survive. A country where medical debt is the number 1 cause of bankruptcy. A country where women are dying in hospital car parks because doctors are too scared of abortion laws to treat a miscarriage.

You lock up more of your own citizens than any nation on earth. More than China. More than Russia. More than North Korea. The land of the free has 2 million people in cages, and a quarter of them haven't even been convicted of anything. They're just too poor to make lease.

Your life expectancy is going backwards. You're the only developed nation where that's happening. Your infant mortality rate is worse than Cuba's. Your kids do active shooter drills between math and English while you sell the gunmaker's stock to your matte.

Your minimum wage hasn't moved in 15 years. You've got teachers working 2 jobs and veterans sleeping under bridges and you just spent a trillion dollars flattering a country that didn't attack you.

And you’ve got a convicted felon, adjudicating raping, paedophile protecting, porn star shagging insurrectionist running the biggest dumpster fire war campaign since the Taliban thanked you very much for losing again.

And you're calling Greenland poorly run?

Greenland has universal healthcare. Free education. One of the lowest incarceration rates in the world. Nobody goes bankrupt there because they got sick. Nobody dies in a waiting room because their insurance said no…”

We are burning our strategic reserves to manage paper markets while China quietly builds a 900-million-barrel energy fortress.

The exact math shows the US hits a critical 150-million-barrel military floor in just 41 days at maximum draw. By artificially suppressing wartime energy prices, the administration effectively handed a generational strategic advantage to our primary global rival.

Here is the data-driven teardown of how short-term market optics just sold our physical energy future.👇https://triggledger.substack.com/p/shorting-america-how-trump-sold-our?utm_source=share&utm_medium=android&r=8gc1qf
