Marco Rubio didn’t host a “security summit.” He hosted a bragging session. He stood there selling was a global crackdown system dressed up as public safety. He dragged out the same Western playbook that’s been used for decades to monitor, isolate, and financially suffocate political movements the empire doesn’t like.
The West has always decided who counts as a threat. They’ve always decided which movements get to exist and which ones get hunted. “Intelligence sharing.” “Financial disruption.” “Coordinated law enforcement.” It’s the same bs they used during apartheid, just with better branding and fewer people willing to calling it out.
Rubio’s “financial disruption” is something glossed over. It’s not about stopping bombs or preventing attacks. It’s about starving movements. Freeze accounts. Flag donors. Block transfers. Pressure banks. Turn political organizing into a financial block. Suddenly a movement can’t pay rent, can’t print materials, can’t support families, can’t breathe. That’s the goal. You don’t have to arrest people if you can make their entire infrastructure collapse.
And the “intelligence sharing”? Spare me. Western governments have been passing names, files, and surveillance data to their favorite regimes for decades. They did it to anti‑colonial movements. They did it to Black liberation groups. They did it to Palestinian organizers. They did it to anti‑apartheid activists. They’ve always had a list of people they want monitored, and they’ve always had a network ready to do it.
Rubio’s summit is just the modern version of that same script. Same purpose. Same targets. Same arrogance. They want a world where any government aligned with Western interests can pull up a shared database and get a file on whoever they’ve decided is a threat this week. They want a world where banks automatically flag political movements the West doesn’t like. They want a world where “extremism” is whatever they say it is. Where “terrorists” are designated at their whim.
Rubio stood in front of sixty governments and basically said: let’s build a global cage. Let’s merge surveillance powers. Let’s merge police powers. Let’s merge financial controls. Let’s make sure no one can organize without us knowing. Let’s make sure no one can resist without being labeled a threat. Let’s make sure no one can challenge Western military or financial interests without paying for it.
The same governments that hunted Mandela now want to run a worldwide “extremism” registry. The same governments that shared intelligence with apartheid death squads now want to decide which movements are legitimate. The same governments that helped track and kill political activists now claim they’re defending democracy.
Rubio just announced a plan that will come for each and every single one of us. The one that’s been used to crush liberation movements, exile leaders, and hand activists over to regimes that kill them. They’re trying to make sure they can control anyone who pushes back against their power. They're trying to kill dissent.
