🚨 Day 26 of my Fast for Peace. Please read—3 easy ways to contact your Congresspeople👇🏽

I’m an American on Day 26 without food (620 hours) to try to stop the war with Iran, Lebanon, Gaza, and the West Bank.

❓ Future generations will ask what we did.

💪🏽 Ordinary people can still stop catastrophic wars.✊🏽

😢 Because somewhere tonight, a parent may only be able to identify their child by a backpack or a shoe after an airstrike. 🎒 👟

🤫 I refuse to stay silent while another devastating war spreads.

⏰ What I’m asking you to do will take about 2 minutes.

If even 1 in 20 people who see this act, thousands of messages will reach Congress today.

☎️ PLEASE Tell your Congresspeople:

👉🏽 End war on Iran, Lebanon, Gaza, West Bank

👉🏽 Immediate de-escalation

👉🏽 Unimpeded aid into Gaza

👉🏽 Access for international journalists, humanitarian organizations, and observers into Gaza, the West Bank, and Lebanon

👉🏽 Support the War Powers Resolution

🏥 Civilians across the region deserve protection, food, medicine, and peace.

✌🏽It takes about 2 minutes

📞 Call: www.5calls.org/issue/iran-israel-war-us-involvement

📨 Email: www.democracy.io

🤳🏽 Text RESIST to 50409

If you are from another country, try to organize with these groups and call/email/SMS your politicians and tell them to publicly condemn the war on Iran and to make sure that your government doesn't support it in any way.

Also tell them to demand unfettered humanitarian aid, human rights organizations and observers to Gaza, the West Bank, and Lebanon.

✌🏽PLEASE please take action and then SHARE with everyone you know and ask them to do the same! 🕊️

💲Download the No Thanks app (or BoyCat or Boycott X)—make sure you don't spend another $ that supports the extremist Netanyahu regime!

🌟 IRAN: FACTS RARELY DISCUSSED IN WESTERN MEDIA

- When many Westerners hear “Iran,” they imagine a fanatic government that wants to harm Israelis or Americans.

- Iran is not a perfect society, and many Iranians themselves criticize aspects of their government. But the reality is more complex than the stereotypes often presented in Western media.

- Here are some important facts that are rarely discussed.

✅ RELIGIOUS MINORITIES

- Iran officially recognizes Judaism, Christianity, and Zoroastrianism as protected religions.

- These minorities have reserved seats in parliament:

- 1 Jewish

- 1 Zoroastrian

- 3 Christian (Armenian and Assyrian communities)

🕍 JEWISH COMMUNITY

- Iran has the second-largest Jewish population in the Middle East outside Israel.

- There are 13 synagogues in the city of Isfahan alone.

- Jews have lived in Persia continuously for more than 2,500 years, dating back to the Persian Empire after the Babylonian exile.

✝️ CHRISTIAN HISTORY

- Christian communities have existed in Persia since the 1st–3rd centuries CE.

- Armenian and Assyrian Christian communities remain today.

- Many churches belong to the historic Church of the East tradition.

👩 WOMEN IN IRAN

- Iranian women face some legal inequalities, as women do in many countries.

- But they drive, travel, study, work, and participate widely in public life.

- Women are highly educated and often make up a majority of university graduates in science and engineering, contributing strongly to medicine, research, and technology.

🕊 IRAN & ISRAEL / PALESTINE

- Iran’s opposition to Israel is political and based largely on the 1948 displacement of Palestinians (the Nakba) and the continuing conflict over Palestinian rights.

- Iranian leaders frequently emphasize opposition to Israeli government policies and the occupation of Palestinian territories rather than hostility toward Jewish people as a religion.

🌍 GLOBAL SOLIDARITY

- South Africa: Iran supported the anti-apartheid struggle and the African National Congress. The United States, United Kingdom, and Israel maintained various forms of cooperation with apartheid South Africa for many years.

- Ireland: Many people in Ireland express solidarity with Palestinians because they also experienced great suffering due to European colonization, including the devastation of the Great Famine (Ireland) in the 19th century.

- Humanitarian cooperation: Iran has provided fuel, medicine, and technical assistance to countries facing heavy sanctions such as Venezuela and Cuba, including help maintaining medical equipment and energy infrastructure.

📊 THREE SURPRISING FACTS

- Iran reserves 5 parliamentary seats for religious minorities.

- Jews have lived in Persia for over 2,500 years, with 13 synagogues in Isfahan alone.

- Women often make up a majority of science and engineering graduates.

⚠️ WHY THIS MATTERS

- Understanding other countries accurately is important — especially when politicians talk about sanctions, confrontation, or war.

- No nation of nearly 90 million people with thousands of years of civilization can be understood through simple stereotypes.

❓ QUESTION

- Why do you think these facts are rarely mentioned in Western discussions about Iran?

Thank you for this. Seems the Zionist aspirations go back a very long way. I was born the same month JFK was assassinated and it’s incredible that these aspirations have spanned generations. Decades. When will it end? No one should have nuclear weapons. It’s all about power.

NOTE: I wanted to share a link to a documentary that I think adds useful context. It's from the Uncivilized YouTube channel. I'm including some of the transcript along with my comments:

What is the Deep State and Why Does it Support Israel?

LBJ stopped the US Navy from saving their lives. "I don't give a damn. I will not embarrass my ally (Israel)."

---

[14:00 mark of video]: Israel's attack on the USS Liberty killed 34 US Navy personnel and wounded 171. A nearby US fleet received their SOS and was scrambling to help but secretary of Defense Robert McNamara intervened and told them to stand down. When another fleet tried to intervene, Lyndon B Johnson stopped the US Navy from saving their lives. "I don't give a damn. I will not embarrass my ally." Many experts, including an organization of US Navy sailors who survived the attack, have concluded that this was a deliberate attack intended to implicate Egypt to get the US to declare war on them. It was covered up at the highest levels of the US government—to the Secretary of Defense and even the president. US Admiral Kid visited survivors and threatened them with "imprisonment, fines, or worse" if they talked about what happened. "Our own government betrayed us. Every congressman betrayed us." Until this day there's never been any accountability. At the time of the attack, the Washington Post noted that the pro-Israel Zionist lobby could help determine the outcome of 169 of the 270 electoral votes.

"11:55 it was no coincidence that his commitment to Israel was unprecedented for an American president at the time. Under LBJ, the Israel lobby thrived. It became one of the most dominant lobby groups in Washington.

JFK was assassinated and LBJ became president. Mathilda Krim's personal relationship with Johnson continued and shaped his views and thinking on Israel."

21:20 regime change in the Middle East...

Truth4Justice1948's avatar

⏱️ 21:20 — Regime Change in the Middle East

In the 1990s, neoconservatives believed the U.S. should use its military, economic, and political power for global dominance.

They saw the Middle East—and its oil—as essential to that vision. Israel would be their key ally in what they framed as a battle between good and evil.

Netanyahu and his neoconservative allies in the U.S. developed a plan to overthrow seven countries supporting Palestinian statehood:

Iraq, Libya, Syria, Lebanon, Somalia, Sudan, and Iran.

Since then, the U.S. has been involved in both overt and covert regime-change efforts that have: — cost tens of thousands of U.S. service members their lives or health

— added trillions to the national debt

— caused massive destruction

— killed, injured, and displaced millions of civilians

⚖️ Important Context

It’s important to emphasize:

Countries and people supporting Palestinian human rights are not motivated by antisemitism.

Their criticism is directed at the state of Israel—a secular nationalist project—not at Jewish people.

Many governments view Israel as hostile, especially given decades of regime-change efforts directed against them.

Like much of the Global South, many see Israel as a settler-colonial state privileging one ethno-religious group.

Some advocate for a single democratic state with equal rights for all people between the Jordan River and the Mediterranean Sea:

“From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free.”

However, most governments—and Palestinians themselves—have supported a two-state solution based on the June 4, 1967 borders, consistent with international consensus.

🕊️ Human Rights

All major human rights organizations—including Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch, and B’Tselem—have described Israeli policies as apartheid.

Even Hamas, in its latest charter, rejected antisemitism and has expressed willingness for nearly two decades to accept the Arab Peace Initiative based on 1967 borders.

⚠️ October 7 Narratives

Truth4Justice1948's avatar

🏠 Historical Context

Palestinians do not oppose Jews as people.

Their resistance is to displacement:

Around 750,000 Palestinians were expelled in 1948 during the Nakba.

At that time: — Zionist militias carried out attacks and expulsions — Palestinians owned most of the land — Jewish immigrants made up about one-third of the population

In cities like Haifa, tens of thousands were expelled in days.

Afterward, Israel denied refugees the right of return, despite international law.

⛪ Religious Diversity

Before Zionism, Palestine was home to: — Muslims (≈85%) — Christians (≈10%) — Jews (≈5%, many anti-Zionist)

Jews lived integrated lives across the Arab world, often peacefully alongside Muslims and Christians.

🌍 Long-Term Impact

Since 1967, Palestinians have faced: — military occupation — land confiscation — home demolitions — settler violence — systemic discrimination

All enabled by over $158 billion in U.S. support.

Even peaceful acts—like raising a flag—can lead to arrest or violence.

✊ Global Solidarity

Today, billions worldwide—including many Jews and Holocaust survivors—support Palestinian rights.

Many face: — career risks — legal threats — public smears

Yet they continue advocating for: — human rights — equality — justice under international law

These are not extremists. They are people standing for humanity.

⚠️ October 7 Narratives

Many widely circulated claims—such as mass killings of babies—have been debunked.

In reality, two infants tragically died: — one from a bullet through a door — one during childbirth

There is no evidence either was deliberately targeted.

These false narratives helped dehumanize Palestinians—often a precursor to mass violence.

Hamas stated its primary goal was targeting military installations enforcing Gaza’s nearly two-decade blockade, which controlled: electricity, water, food, internet, and movement.

Israel even calculated caloric intake to avoid starvation while maintaining control.

Some civilian casualties occurred near military sites, raising ongoing debates about human shields—an accusation made against both sides.

🔒 Detention & Control

One key objective of the attack was taking hostages for prisoner exchanges.

Thousands of Palestinians are held in Israeli prisons—many without charge or trial.

Israeli forces can: — raid homes at night — detain individuals indefinitely — transfer them to undisclosed locations

Human rights organizations have documented widespread abuse and torture.

Conviction rates in military courts approach nearly 100%.

📚 Voices on Apartheid

Nelson Mandela and Desmond Tutu stated that in some ways conditions are worse than apartheid South Africa.

Jimmy Carter, in “Peace Not Apartheid,” described profound injustice against Palestinians and noted that U.S. politicians feared criticizing Israel due to lobbying pressure.

AIPAC claims an 80% success rate in influencing elections and reportedly spent $100 million in 2024 alone.
