Integration isn't binary you don't need to erase your past to claim your future. Someone can be a committed American while preserving their cultural and religious identity. The real markers of belonging are simpler, Abide by the laws of the country, make a genuine effort to learn the official language to help support your settlement, and participate in the civic, social and economic life of your new home.
