Britain Issued 108 Arms Export Licenses To Israel Since October 7th

Britain's complicity in the Gaza genocide maybe undeniable and may end them facing legal charges in October.

Since the onset of Israel's military campaign in Gaza last October, Britain has issued over 100 export licenses for weapons and military equipment to Israel, according to government data.

Data released by the Department for Business on Tuesday reveals that these licenses enable manufacturers to export a variety of UK-made military and non-military equipment to Israel. The military equipment covered under these licenses includes components crucial for the operation of military aircraft, vehicles, and combat naval vessels.

As of the end of May, a total of 345 arms export licenses to Israel remained active, including those issued before October. Despite mounting international pressure on Western governments to cease arms sales to Israel, no UK arms export license applications have been rejected or revoked.

In three separate decisions in December, April, and May, ministers dismissed calls to suspend arms exports to Israel. The value of UK-approved arms export licenses to Israel amounted to £42 million in 2022, with the figure for the entirety of 2023 expected to be published later this week

Several international organizations and UK-based advocacy groups have consistently voiced concerns regarding Israel's deployment of military equipment in Gaza.

The ongoing ground and aerial offensive by Israeli forces has resulted in the deaths of over 37,000 Palestinians and has caused extensive destruction throughout the Palestinian territories over the past eight months.

The release of these figures coincides with efforts by two prominent human rights organizations, Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch, to join a judicial review concerning arms sales to Israel. This legal challenge is scheduled to be heard in early October.

David Cameron has repeatedly faced parliamentary questioning sessions where he squirms and dodges any implication of Britain’s role in the ongoing genocide in Gaza. Yet, the undeniable truth is that Britain has been among the top three weapons exporters to Israel since October 7, 2023.

With Israel brazenly committing daily massacres, the rogue regime shows a blatant disregard for international and humanitarian law. From the horrific tent massacres, where innocent Palestinians were burned alive in the dead of night, to the Nuseirat massacre, which Israelis claimed was a diversion to rescue their hostages, the atrocities are relentless.

In these brutal operations, not only are Palestinian lives callously disregarded, but Israeli hostages’ lives are also sacrificed. Five hostages perished during the so-called rescue operation amid the Nuseirat massacre.

How long can countries like Britain, Germany, and the United States evade legal repercussions for their active support of Israel’s genocide? It is time for accountability to prevail and for Palestinians to receive the rightful justice they deserve.
