I met Prof. Mearsheimer in Iowa on Oct. 15, 2007 when he spoke at the University of Iowa and have followed his work with interest since the publication of his and Prof. Walt’s watershed LRB article, “The Israel Lobby”, on Mar. 23, 2006. He has yet to disappoint in any significant way, in my opinion.
Seventy-seven now, I too enjoy movies occasionally but of course quality entertainment that is not crafted to serve typical Western narratives is increasingly rare these days. I recently watched Victory (1996) with Willem Dafoe and Irene Jacob and enjoyed it. We too often lose sight of the truth that victory often arrives in unexpected ways and that it may even accompany great personal tragedy.
I hope everything that is said here comes to fruition, including that the Genocidal maniacs (Israel included) will retreat without causing a nuclear catastrophe.
